Course
Overview: Students will perform a
variety of tasks to assist teacher in the classroom.

This is a pass/fail course.
§
Grading
in this class will be assessed by performance as outlined in the following
areas.

Attendance:

Report
for role at the beginning of the period.
ü
Students
are responsible for attendance and punctuality.
ü
Science
lab aides are expected to work in the classroom or in the lab. They are not to
be wandering the halls, working in the library or other miscellaneous areas
unless otherwise given permission. .
§
Professionalism:
ü
Science
Aides are expected to respect the privacy of other students’ grades, work and
their right to an education.
ü
Do
not disrupt the teacher or the class
ü
Enter
and exit the room quietly and without talking to other students.
§
Work Area:
ü
Science
Aides are expected to complete their work at the aides desk or the in the
science area.
ü
The
science prep area is strictly limited to aides involved in the preparation or
cleanup of lab materials.
§
Work Habits:
ü
Science
lab aides must demonstrate a willingness to complete a large variety of tasks,
and show a work ethic in both follow through, and responsibility.
ü
If
I have to check up on you to ensure that you are doing the work that I
assigned, a failing grade will be given.
§
Daily Science Lab Aide Schedule:
1. First respond to the personal list that has been
left for you on the desk.
2. Deliver and wait for copies at the library when
needed by the teacher.
3. Assist teacher with check-in and check-out of lab
materials
4. General clean up of lab stations and sinks.
5. Wash and Put away dry dishes.
6. Put lab materials back in specified areas.
7. Personal time for homework and other school
related activities can be given if requested.
§
This
is an activity-based class, therefore it is imperative that you attend class
regularly and arrive promptly. You have an obligation to your classmates and to
the school.
§
Tardies
are disruptive to class. See SHS
Handbook for school policy.
Specific Class Rules/Behavior
Expectations:
SHS encourages parental
involvement and comments. For that
reason, I’m requiring that my student take this home and have it signed by a
parent or guardian. If you have any questions,
